Basketball Icon Candace Parker Makes History as Adidas Women’s Basketball’s First-Ever President

Candace Parker Breaks New Ground in Leadership Role

Just days after announcing her retirement from an illustrious WNBA career, basketball legend Candace Parker has made history by being named the first-ever President of Adidas Women’s Basketball.

In this groundbreaking role, Parker will oversee product lines, expand the brand’s existing athlete roster, and increase representation within the rapidly growing women’s basketball landscape.

“From high school to college to playing pro to now, this appointment by Adidas symbolizes a shared commitment to making impactful change and setting new benchmarks for the future of women’s sports,” Parker said. “It’s not just about products; it’s about fostering a movement focused on innovation, representation, and access.”

Long-Standing Partnership with Adidas

Parker’s appointment comes after a long-standing partnership with Adidas, which began when she wore the brand’s shoes in high school and college.

In 2008, following her Rookie of the Year WNBA season, Parker officially signed as an Adidas professional athlete, becoming the first woman to have a signature shoe with the brand with the release of the ACE Commander in 2010.

Shaping the Future of Women’s Basketball

In her new role, Parker will have a direct impact on shaping the rapidly growing landscape of women’s basketball.

She will provide input on new product lines while also building upon Adidas’ existing women’s basketball athlete roster, which currently includes stars like Aliyah Boston, Hailey Van Lith, Kahleah Copper, and Nneka Ogwumike.

A Perfect Fit for Growth and Credibility

With her unparalleled experience as a three-time WNBA champion, two-time Olympic gold medalist, and two-time WNBA MVP, Parker is uniquely positioned to drive growth and credibility for the Adidas Women’s Basketball brand.

“As a true innovator with a profound passion for the game, we are confident that she is a perfect fit to evolve the Adidas women’s basketball business and catalyze a new era of growth and credibility for the brand,” said Eric Wise, Adidas Basketball Global General Manager.
