A Trailblazing Entrepreneur’s Journey
Janice Omadeke, the founder and CEO of The Mentor Method, made history as the first Black woman in Austin, TX to secure a venture-backed tech exit.
As a proven leader focused on data-driven decision-making, strategy, innovation, and cultural change management, Omadeke established herself as a force to be reckoned with in the tech landscape.
Her venture, The Mentor Method, is an enterprise software designed to drive transformative change within company cultures through the power of mentorship.
Transforming Company Culture Through Mentorship
The Mentor Method, founded by Omadeke five years ago, has become a trusted partner for organizations such as the Department of Education, Amazon, and Deloitte. The company’s data-driven approach to mentorship has proven to be a game-changer, helping to foster more equitable and inclusive workplaces.
“This acquisition is exactly what we wanted,” Omadeke said of The Cru’s recent acquisition of The Mentor Method. “The Cru is a Black woman-led business with a visionary founder with a strong culture, where I know my team will continue to thrive, and I know that our mission to create a more equitable workforce will proceed.”
Paving the Way for Black Women Entrepreneurs
Omadeke’s success is not only a personal achievement but also a powerful statement for the Black women entrepreneurial community.
She is among the fewer than 100 Black women founders to lead a startup and raise more than $1 million in venture capital funding, a remarkable feat in the male-dominated tech industry.
“Janice is the epitome of a New Majority entrepreneur and has set an example for all of our program participants and alumni, showcasing the potential and disruptive innovation of Black-led startups,” said Melissa Bradley, founder and managing partner of 1863 Ventures, which provided non-dilutive funding to The Mentor Method.
Advocating for Mentorship and Entrepreneurship
In addition to her entrepreneurial endeavors, Omadeke is a recognized thought leader and advocate for mentorship and entrepreneurship.
She is the author of the book “Mentorship Unlocked: The Science and Art of Setting Yourself Up for Success,” which shares her expertise and strategies for leveraging mentorship to forge a fulfilling career.
“My hope is that readers will see themselves in these pages and realize they’re not alone,” Omadeke said. “If they lacked a mentor before, they’ll find one in me through this book.”
