AfterHours introduces Loretta as a new AI voice
An Easthampton-based company called AfterHours has launched its first African American female AI voice. The new voice, named Loretta, was designed to bring more diversity and relatability to artificial intelligence.
AfterHours is owned by Big Voodoo Interactive. The firm creates AI-powered call center solutions that mostly serve personal injury law firms. Loretta is modeled after an older African American woman from South Carolina. She was created to sound authentic and trustworthy while supporting people during stressful times.
AI voice designed for law firms and beyond
Loretta helps law firms by gathering caller information about accidents and sending the details to staff members for follow-up. This process is especially useful for after-hours calls when human staff may not be available. It ensures that clients’ needs are handled quickly and with care.
Jacob Del Hagen, CEO of Big Voodoo Interactive, explained how Loretta was developed. “AI can take little bits of files from different regions and compile parts of them to create an original voice,” he said. This process makes Loretta unique while still reflecting the natural tones of African American speech.
Big Voodoo’s wide range of AI voices
Big Voodoo Interactive already offers more than 75 AI voices in 112 languages. This wide range allows clients to choose voices that match their customer base and community. The launch of Loretta shows the company’s commitment to making voices that feel more inclusive.
The firm is also exploring ways to use AI voices in the medical field. By expanding beyond legal services, AfterHours hopes to bring better communication and support to more industries. This growth highlights the increasing role of AI in building stronger human connections.
