Gabrielle Watson Vows To Make History

Gabrielle Watson Of A Hundred Drums Vows To Make History As The First Black Female In EDM To Headline Red Rocks

Watson Discovers No Black Women Have Headlined the Iconic Venue

EDM artist Gabrielle Watson, known as A Hundred Drums, recently discovered something shocking: no black female DJ has ever headlined the iconic Red Rocks amphitheatre. Finding out this news made Watson feel “sad, angry and wondering -why the hell not?”

Many women of color have headlined Red Rocks in genres like hip hop and R&B. But the lack of a black female EDM headliner motivated Watson to make a vow for 2024- to end this pattern and make actual history at one of America’s most legendary venues.

Selling Out Smaller Shows First Step Towards Red Rocks Goal

Watson sees her upcoming headlining show at The Ogden on January 13th as a stepping stone towards the larger goal of Red Rocks. She is asking supporters to join her mission by getting tickets and spreading the word about that event.

“Selling this venue out, is what gets us closer to making huge history!” Watson explained. “There is no way I can do this on my own. It truly takes a village.”

By rising up as a community to support her shows, Watson aims to create change in the EDM scene. She intends to lead by example in breaking barriers for black female artists.

Watson An Experienced Producer And Pioneer

Watson has the skills and track record to achieve her goal. She cut her teeth performing in warehouses for icons of underground UK dubstep and drum & bass scenes.

After a decade crafting her signature sound spanning psychedelic bass, experimental hip-hop and indigenous drums, Watson is ready to bring those underground sounds into the mainstream.

If anyone has the passion and pioneering spirit to become the first black female EDM headliner at Red Rocks, it is the high-energy trailblazer Gabrielle Watson. She is hungry for gigs and focused breaking through industry barriers.
