Early Reader Becomes One of the Youngest Mensa Members
6-year-old Chandler Hughes of Humble, Texas has accomplished something truly remarkable – he was recently inducted as one of the youngest-ever members of Mensa, an elite society for people with exceptionally high IQs.
Chandler started reading at just 1 year and 9 months old. By age 2 he was already reading and doing math at a second-grade level, far ahead of his peers. Though he should only be in kindergarten given his age, Chandler is currently attending first grade at The Imani School.
Driven to Help Others and Further Knowledge
Though clearly gifted intellectually, Chandler is focused on using his abilities to help others. He aspires to become a medical doctor, stating “I want to help people when they are sick.”
In addition to advancing medicine, Chandler’s father hopes his son’s accomplishments can help “increase literacy and math rates in our community.” Mensa shares this goal – the organization aims to support human progress through intelligence.
Continued Support to Nurture All Aspects of Growth
While Chandler’s academic talents are extraordinary, his family emphasizes the importance of nurturing his social skills as well. The Imani School provides an excellent environment for Chandler to thrive both intellectually and socially.
Chandler joins over 50,000 Mensa members across 90 countries – essentially a global fraternity of geniuses. With his strong motivation, family support, and prestigious new community, this young man’s future is incredibly bright.
