Jason Lowe Resigns from Oklahoma Legislature to Begin New Role
Jason Lowe, a longtime public servant and representative for House District 97, has stepped down from the Oklahoma Legislature. His resignation took effect at 4 p.m. on Monday, April 7, 2025, shortly after he won the race for Oklahoma County Commissioner.
In a heartfelt message, Lowe expressed deep gratitude.
“It’s been the honor of a lifetime to serve the great residents of House District 97,” he said.
“I’m thankful to have been elected to serve you and to serve alongside my esteemed colleagues of the legislature.”
Lowe’s decision to leave the legislature follows his successful campaign to take on a new leadership role that allows him to serve at the county level.
A Trailblazing Legacy in Oklahoma Politics
Jason Lowe made history during his time in the Oklahoma House of Representatives. He was the first African American attorney from District 97 to be appointed to the House Judiciary Committee. His work in this role helped shape justice policies in the state.
He also held key positions as a member of the Oklahoma House Democratic Caucus and as Chairman of the Oklahoma Legislative Black Caucus. These roles allowed him to advocate for marginalized voices and push for fairer legislation.

Oklahoma House Democratic Leader Cyndi Munson praised his legacy:
