Quadruplets Set Guinness World Record for Premature Birth

The Bryant family from Alabama recently threw a very special birthday party. Their four babies — Lainey, Kali, Lennon, and Koen — turned one on May 31, 2025. But this wasn’t just any celebration.

The quadruplets were born 115 days early, making them the most premature set of quads in the world. According to Guinness World Records, no other set of quadruplets has been born so early and survived.

Lavareis Bryant: A Calm Force Through Crisis

Lavareis Bryant, the babies’ father, is a police officer. He stayed strong during one of the most stressful times a parent could face. The family calls their children the “Quads of Aubs,” and Lavareis never lost hope.

His wife, Becca, shared how both of them managed the stress. “In my job and my husband’s job, you don’t have time to panic,” she told Today. “You have to react quickly and keep moving.”

Emergency Birth Involved 30 Medical Experts

When Becca’s water broke early, she became seriously ill within minutes. Doctors rushed her into surgery for an emergency cesarean section. The babies were delivered at the University of Alabama at Birmingham hospital.

More than 30 specialists worked together during the birth. Each baby had their own medical team to give them the best chance at life. “The highest risk for extremely preterm babies is during their first week,” said Dr. Colm Travers.

Tiny Weights, Big Fight for Life

Lainey, the smallest of the group, weighed just 1 pound and 4 ounces. Lennon, the biggest, was only 1 pound and 7 ounces. All four spent nearly six months in the neonatal intensive care unit.

Becca had to wait 45 days before she could even hold her babies. Despite early complications, the babies survived. The family finally brought all four home by December 2024.

Family Life With Four Newborns

Lavareis and Becca already had three older children. Now with four more, their home is full — and busy. The family changes around 40 diapers a day and runs two loads of laundry just for the babies.

Thankfully, their older kids help a lot. Friends and family often say, “If anyone was supposed to have quads, it was y’all.” That’s no surprise — Lavareis is a twin himself, and multiples run in his family.

A Rare Natural Miracle

What makes this story even more remarkable is that the quadruplets were conceived naturally — something extremely rare. Becca had a rare type of pregnancy called trichorionic quadra-amniotic. That means there were three placentas instead of four.

Both parents are proud of their journey. “Hearing our babies were the most premature quads put into perspective how lucky we were,” said Becca. Now, a year later, the Bryants are grateful to celebrate life and resilience.
