Aerostar Delivers Romania’s First Black Hawk Maintenance Ahead of Schedule, Led by Country’s First Black‑Operated Helicopter Support Team

Black Hawk Phase Maintenance Inspection Completed Ahead of Time

Aerostar, in Bacău, Romania, successfully finished its first Phase Maintenance Inspection (PMI) on a Black Hawk® helicopter.
This milestone work was done ahead of schedule. It highlights local industry skill, speed, and dedication.

The routine inspection was completed for Romania’s Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI). Using the Lockheed Martin authorized MRO center saved valuable time. Now, operators can focus on everyday tasks.

Boost for Romanian Aerospace Industry and Jobs

Aerostar CEO Alexandru Filip praised the team’s efforts. He said,
“Aerostar is committed to delivering exceptional services and supporting the growth of Romania’s aerospace industry.”
He also noted that the project gave local skilled jobs and strengthened partnerships with Sikorsky and MAI.

Thanks to Aerostar’s new support centre, Romania’s operators can rely on one local provider. That change helps improve aircraft availability and could boost national aerospace growth.

Sikorsky Praises Romanian Helicopter Maintenance

Lockheed Martin Europe VP Dr. Dennis Goege applauded the achievement. He stated,
“By minimizing downtime and maximizing aircraft availability, Aerostar is ensuring Romanian aviators are ready for the next mission.”
Dr. Goege praised the added security, public safety, and disaster-response readiness.

Sikorsky’s Black Hawk (S‑70M) meets strict military standards. It is used in search and rescue, firefighting, medical support, and transportation across land and sea.

Maintenance Milestone and Fleet Expansion

Aerostar finished inspection on the st on the second earlier this month.
The Black Hawk fleet grows: in 2024, Sikorsky signed a contract to supply an eighth helicopter for emergency and firefighting needs.

These aircraft are built in Poland at Lockheed Martin’s PZL Mielec and serve both civil and defense roles across Europe and the world.
