Beaumont Voters Face a Critical Mayoral Runoff Election
Beaumont voters will head back to the polls for a key mayoral runoff election on June 7. The race is between current Mayor Roy West and former Mayor Robin Mouton. Both candidates are familiar rivals who have faced off twice before.
Early voting begins May 27 and runs through June 3, with extended hours on the last two days. On Election Day, polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Voters can cast ballots at any vote center, no matter their precinct.
This runoff comes after the May 4 election, where Mouton led with nearly 40% of the vote, but did not earn a majority. West came in second with about 28%. Since no candidate got more than 50%, the race moves to a runoff, as required by local election rules.
Robin Mouton’s Historic Leadership as Beaumont’s First Black Woman Mayor
Robin Mouton first captured the mayor’s office in 2021, becoming the first Black woman to hold that role in Beaumont. She won a close runoff against Roy West with just over 51% of the vote.
Her time in office marked an important moment for representation and leadership in the city. Mouton’s election showed that Beaumont’s voters were ready for change and diversity at the top.
However, in the 2023 election, West took back the mayor’s seat with 52% of the vote. Now, Mouton aims to reclaim the position she fought hard to win before, showing resilience and commitment.
What This Runoff Means for Beaumont’s Future
This mayoral race is more than just a contest between two candidates. It is a test of leadership and vision for Beaumont’s growth and unity. Voters have the chance to choose who will guide the city through new challenges and opportunities.
Runoff elections in Beaumont usually have low turnout, often just 20% to 25% of registered voters. But this year, excitement and the high-profile battle between Mouton and West are expected to bring more voters to the polls.
Local leaders hope this increased participation will reflect the community’s engagement and desire for strong leadership.

Early voting starts Monday, May 27. Polls will be open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Saturday, voting runs from noon to 5 p.m. For the final two early voting days, June 2 and 3, polls stay open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Election Day voting on June 7 will also be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Voters do not need to go to their regular precinct; any vote center in Beaumont will accept their ballot.

Mouton’s Message of Determination and Service
Robin Mouton has shown determination throughout her political career. She says she remains focused on serving Beaumont’s residents and leading with integrity.
Her historic win in 2021 was a milestone, but she continues to push forward, driven by a vision for a more inclusive and thriving city.
Mouton’s fight to regain the mayor’s office reflects her deep commitment to the community and belief in the power of steady leadership.
