Texas Trailblazer Bobbie J. Mitchell Attacked in Her Home
Bobbie J. Mitchell, the first Black mayor of Lewisville, Texas, was brutally stabbed in her home early Monday morning. Her husband, Fred Mitchell, 76, did not survive the attack. Police responded to a distress call around 3:53 a.m. and found the couple with serious stab wounds.
The 76-year-old Mitchell was taken to a nearby hospital and is now in stable condition. The community is shocked but grateful that the trailblazing leader is alive. Her husband was pronounced dead just an hour after authorities arrived.
Grandson Arrested at the Scene of the Attack
Mitchell’s 23-year-old grandson, Mitchell Blake Reinacher, was arrested at the scene. He has been charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Authorities have not yet released details about the motive behind the attack.
