Kevin Knight Blazes Trail as First Black NJPW Dojo Graduate and IWGP Junior Tag Champion Before Lighting Up AEW

Kevin Knight Makes History as NJPW’s First Black Dojo Graduate

Kevin Knight is changing the game in pro wrestling. He became the first Black graduate of NJPW’s LA Dojo, a big achievement in one of wrestling’s most respected training schools. Trained by NJPW legend Katsuyori Shibata, Knight stood out from the beginning for his hard work, high-flying style, and focus.

His journey began with the black trunks of a Young Lion, NJPW’s way of teaching discipline and skill. But once Knight traded in those black trunks for bright orange gear, he didn’t just change his look—he leveled up. That switch marked his official graduation from the dojo and his launch into international stardom.

From Young Lion to IWGP Junior Tag Champion

After his graduation, Knight joined forces with Japanese veteran KUSHIDA. The two became known as the Intergalactic Jet Setters and entered the 2022 Super Junior Tag League. They didn’t win the tournament, but they clicked as a team and kept pushing forward.

In April 2023, their persistence paid off. Knight and KUSHIDA captured the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Titles, giving Knight his first major wrestling championship. This win didn’t just mark a career milestone. It proved that Knight could shine among the very best in the world.

Kevin Knight Lights Up AEW with High-Energy Style

Knight’s path eventually led him to All Elite Wrestling (AEW). He had made early appearances in 2022, mainly supporting NJPW teammates. But it was his March 29, 2025 debut on AEW Collision that changed everything.

Knight battled AEW star Jay White in a high-paced match that impressed fans and critics alike. Even though he didn’t win, his talent stood out. So much so that AEW President Tony Khan signed him immediately after the match. Knight officially joined AEW’s stacked roster, bringing a new level of energy and athleticism to the ring.

A Rising Star Across the Globe

Before making his AEW splash, Knight was already a world-traveled competitor. He wrestled in top promotions like TNA, MLW, GCW, DEFY, ASE, and Ring of Honor (ROH). His global experience gave him a unique edge, showing that he could adapt to different styles and crowds.

Whether it was singles action or tag team battles, Knight delivered exciting matches everywhere he went. His time in TNA especially helped him fine-tune his style and connect with wider audiences. Now, with a spot on AEW, all eyes are on “The Jet” as he aims even higher.

What’s Next for Kevin Knight in AEW?

At only 28 years old, Kevin Knight has already made history—and he’s just getting started. With a background that includes NJPW training, global matches, and championship gold, he enters AEW more than ready.

Fans can expect to see Knight fly through AEW rings with his signature moves, quick pace, and confident energy. He’s not just a new face—he’s the future. Kevin Knight is here, and he’s too fly to ignore.
