Bun B Makes History at RodeoHouston
Bun B, the legendary Houston rapper and philanthropist, is set to headline the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo for the fourth consecutive year. This year’s performance, dubbed the “Bun B Birthday Bonanza,” will take place on Black Heritage Day, March 7, at NRG Stadium.

As the first Black Houstonian to headline the rodeo, Bun B continues to break barriers and celebrate the city’s rich musical heritage. “It’s not lost on me that I’m the first Black man from Houston to headline this,” he said. “There’s a lot of responsibility on my shoulders, but it’s exciting to represent my city.”

A Star-Studded Birthday Bonanza
This year’s show promises to be a memorable celebration, featuring special guests like R&B legend Keith Sweat. Bun B announced Sweat as the first guest, with more surprises to come. “This year my Bun B Birthday Bonanza is on Black Heritage Day, and I’m back to restore the feeling!” he shared on Instagram.

Since his first rodeo performance in 2022, Bun B has brought together iconic artists from Houston and beyond. In 2024, he set a record as the most-attended male rap performer in RodeoHouston history, with over 75,000 fans.

Bun B’s rodeo performances are more than just concerts—they’re a celebration of Houston’s diverse music scene. His 2022 “H-Town Takeover” featured local legends like Slim Thug and Z-Ro, while his 2023 “Southern Takeover” highlighted artists from Louisiana.

This year’s Black Heritage Day performance is especially significant. “Some artists, myself included, were brought to tears by this opportunity,” Bun B shared. “It’s a full-circle moment for me and the city I love.”
