Making History in Heavy Music
Diamond Rowe is breaking barriers in the music industry. On October 5, 2024, she became the first Black female guitarist to launch her own signature guitar model with Jackson. This historic moment represents a significant achievement not just for Rowe, but for women of color in heavy music. Her new guitar, the Pro Series Monarkh DR12MG, showcases her unique style and sound.
During Korn’s 30th anniversary show in Los Angeles, Diamond had a “pinch me” moment. She presented one of her signature guitars to Brian ‘Head’ Welch, a member of Korn who inspired her music journey. “It was an awesome experience,” she said. This was not just a gift; it was a tribute to the musicians who paved the way for her.
A Dream Come True
For Diamond, this achievement has been a lifelong dream. She has wanted her own line of guitars since she was 12 years old. “I always wanted to hand out my guitars to the musicians who shaped me,” she shared. Her hard work and dedication finally paid off with the launch of her signature model.
Not only is Rowe the first female signature artist for Jackson, but she also holds the title of the first Black female artist in heavy metal to have her own signature guitar. “Life is pretty crazy right now,” she exclaimed. This breakthrough is a powerful statement in an industry where representation is crucial.
Inspiring Future Generations
Rowe’s success inspires young Black female guitarists. Her presence in the heavy music scene offers them a role model they can relate to. “There are young girls who now have someone to look up to,” she noted. “This representation can only be a good thing.” Diamond hopes to encourage others to pursue their dreams, regardless of their background.
Reflecting on her journey, Rowe emphasized her love for heavy metal. She did not focus on being different; she simply loved the music. “I felt so at home in this community,” she explained. For her, heavy music is about connection and passion.
The Signature Guitar Design
The Pro Series Monarkh DR12MG is designed for the powerful sound that Tetrarch is known for. It features an 81/85 active EMG pickup set and a reliable EverTune bridge. The guitar is finished in a striking blood-red variant called Dark Rose. Rowe’s design choices reflect her musical journey and personal style.
“I wanted my guitar to represent what I’m comfortable with,” Rowe explained. She has always played singlecut guitars and wanted her signature model to reflect that. By using a poplar burl veneer, she created a unique look that stands out.
