Keeana Barber made history on September 7, 2024. She opened a Signarama franchise on Michigan Avenue in Chicago. This makes her the first Black woman to own such a business in Illinois. The grand opening drew big names and lots of excitement.
Historic Grand Opening on Michigan Avenue
The new Signarama store opened with a bang. Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson was there. So was Alderman Pat Dowell. Arielle Johnson, who leads the Business Leadership Council, joined too. They all came to support Barber’s big moment.
Barber was thrilled about her new shop. “I am incredibly honored to bring Signarama to Michigan Avenue,” she said. “This isn’t just about expanding my business. It’s about showing what’s possible for women of color and making an indelible mark on a city that has supported me.”
From WDB Marketing to Signarama Success
Barber’s journey to Michigan Avenue started years ago. In 2006, she founded WDB Marketing. This company does all sorts of marketing work. They help businesses with branding, design, printing, and more.
Over time, Barber got really good at helping small and medium-sized businesses grow. Her mix of creativity and smart thinking set her apart. Now, she’s taking on a new challenge with Signarama.
Expanding Services for Chicago Businesses
The new Signarama store will offer lots of cool stuff. They can make big signs for buildings, put graphics on cars, and create banners. They’ll also do wall murals and signs that help people find their way around.
But that’s not all. Barber’s marketing agency will keep doing what it does best. They’ll make special items for businesses, create products to promote brands, and help with online marketing too.
Inspiring Future Black Entrepreneurs
Barber hopes her success will inspire others. She wants to show Black women that they can own businesses too. Mayor Brandon Johnson agrees. He said, “It was my honor to welcome WDB Marketing to Chicago this weekend for its grand opening in the South Loop! Owner Keeana Barber represents what’s possible when we invest in Black women-owned businesses!”
This new store isn’t Barber’s first Signarama. She already owns one in South Holland. But the Michigan Avenue location is special. It’s on one of Chicago’s most famous streets.
Barber’s new store is more than just a business. It’s a sign of what hard work and big dreams can achieve. As she builds her empire, she’s also building hope for future business owners.
