Firefighter Elijah Johnson Breaks Barriers in Iconic Australian Calendar
Elijah Johnson, a Chesapeake firefighter and paramedic, has made history by becoming the first Black firefighter to be featured in the world-famous Australian Firefighters Calendar. This groundbreaking achievement marks a significant milestone in the calendar’s 32-year history.
A Global Phenomenon with a Cause
The Australian Firefighters Calendar, sold in 90 countries with a staggering social media reach of 3.2 billion, has become a global phenomenon. Featuring five versions, including one dedicated to animals, a portion of the calendar’s proceeds goes toward supporting Australian animal charities.
“He’s got this other really amazing shot in what we call a hero calendar, which is the firefighters doing very heroic sort of roll,” shared David Rogers, the calendar’s director.
Trailblazing Representation
Johnson’s inclusion as one of only two Americans selected for the calendar is a remarkable accomplishment, shattering barriers and paving the way for greater representation and diversity within the iconic publication.
“AJ’s one of only two Americans chosen to be in the calendar and the first black firefighter [shown] in the Calendar’s 32-year history,” Rogers added.
A Passion for Helping Others
While the spotlight may be on his modeling career, Johnson’s true passion lies in helping others. Through his YouTube channel, “Pretty Boy Floyd,” he offers guidance on skincare and self-care for Black men, amassing over 40,000 subscribers and garnering millions of views.
“I feel like my purpose is always to help people. I have different passions, whether that be with modeling, even with YouTube. I always want to be a trailblazer and inspire others,” Johnson expressed.
