In a historic moment, Kenny Riley has been elected as the first Black president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 4168 chapter in Owensboro, Kentucky. This groundbreaking achievement marks a significant stride towards diversity and inclusion within the nonprofit organization’s 37-year history in the local community.

“I really didn’t think of it, because I’ve never been treated any differently,” Riley humbly stated, reflecting on the organization’s commitment to equality and acceptance.

The Fraternal Order of Eagles prides itself on its mission to “unite fraternally in the spirit of liberty, truth, justice, and equality,” promoting values of compassion and community service.

Riley, a retired Daviess County sheriff’s deputy, exemplifies these principles through his unwavering dedication to helping others.

A Warm Welcome into the Eagles Family

Riley’s journey with the Owensboro chapter began four years ago when he was invited to attend a meeting. He immediately felt a sense of belonging, recounting how members from around the world embraced him wholeheartedly, recognizing him as a fellow Eagle and a friend.

As the newly elected president, Riley is committed to upholding the chapter’s tradition of charitable endeavors. The organization actively raises funds for local nonprofit groups, schools, and the national Eagles Diabetes Research Center at the University of Iowa, donating thousands of dollars annually to support various causes.

Fostering Community Engagement

Riley’s vision for the chapter encompasses fostering community engagement and supporting local institutions. Plans are underway to partner with the Owensboro Symphony, providing free concert admission to first responders, military members, and veterans.

Additionally, the organization will host a free summer concert on June 15, raising donations for Friends of Sinners, a local substance abuse treatment program.
