Trailblazer and Education Champion: Remembering Quentin “Q” Williams
Connecticut recently lost a rising star and dedicated public servant, Representative Quentin “Q” Williams.
Williams shattered barriers, becoming the first Black person elected to represent the 100th House district in the state’s General Assembly.
His untimely passing is a profound loss, but his legacy and achievements inspire us to honor his memory.
Pioneering Politician with Roots in Middletown
A proud product of Middletown Public Schools, Williams embarked on an impressive academic journey. After earning a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Bryant University, he continued his studies at Villanova University, obtaining a Master’s in Public Administration.
Additionally, Williams pursued an Inclusion and Diversity Certificate from Cornell University, underscoring his commitment to equity and representation.
Williams’s election to the Connecticut General Assembly marked a historic milestone. As the first Black representative for the 100th district, he shattered glass ceilings and paved the way for future generations.
His leadership roles included chairing the Housing Committee and the Labor Committee, reflecting his dedication to addressing crucial issues affecting Connecticut residents.

Lifelong Learner and Educator
Beyond his political accomplishments, Williams was a lifelong learner and believed in the transformative power of education.
He co-founded Equity CT, an educational nonprofit organization, and served as an adjunct professor at the University of Hartford. His commitment to empowering students and promoting inclusivity was unwavering.
Williams’s impact extended beyond the political arena. As a proud member of the Connecticut Black and Puerto Rican Caucus and the Beta Sigma Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., he championed diversity and fostered a sense of community. His dedication to service and advocacy left an indelible mark on those around him.
