Atlanta Couple Brings Healthy Eating to Disney Springs
Husband and wife entrepreneurs Robyn and Zak Wallace have achieved a historic first – launching Local Green, the first ever Black-owned food truck at Florida’s Walt Disney World.
The Atlanta-based couple brought their popular vegetarian restaurant to Disney Springs this past March. Just like their Atlanta brick-and-mortar location, Local Green’s food truck offers nutritious vegan, vegetarian and pescatarian menu items.
As Robyn told Disney, “We want folks to know you don’t have to sacrifice your taste for health.” She originally aspired to become a doctor before pivoting into the restaurant industry.
Mission to Improve Community Health After Personal Losses
The catalyst for Local Green was sadly personal. After losing loved ones to cancer, the Wallaces sought to take control of their health – and help their community do the same.
As Zak shared, “We wanted to bring something to our community without sacrificing the taste. We know our culture tends to like soul food, barbecue, fried food… but it’s affecting our health.”
Hypertension, cancer and diabetes plague the Black community. Through wholesome, flavorful meals, the Local Green owners aim to spread awareness that small daily choices can have a huge health impact.
Disney Springs Customers Embrace Healthy Offerings
Since opening just weeks ago, Local Green has already built buzz at Disney World. Visitors to Disney Springs are embracing the truck’s nutritious wraps, grain bowls, salads and sides.
The response affirms the Wallaces’ goal – proving food can be both healthy AND delicious. As first-time Disney vendors, their pioneering success also opens doors for future minority-owned businesses.
Zak summed up the Local Green ethos: “Put yourself first on your to-do list and think about the people most impacted by your daily dietary choices.”
Through their historic Disney World endeavor, this visionary husband-wife team continues leading their community towards healthier lifestyles. And they’re inspiring guests – both in Atlanta and Orlando – to embrace wholesome eating as an integral part of a balanced life.
