McKisset Brings Eyebrow Threading To Mainstream From Middle Eastern Salons
Danecha’ McKisset, founder of the eyebrow studio Browsations_, made history by becoming the first Black female licensed esthetician in Maryland to specialize in eyebrow threading. Known as the “Threading Muva,” McKisset helped introduce eyebrow threading as a technique outside of traditional Middle Eastern beauty salons.
In 2018, McKisset began training other artists in eyebrow threading when it was still an emerging trend. Her trailblazing work established McKisset as a leader in beauty services for brows.
Maryland Beauty Maven Honored For Entrepreneurship
Beyond McKisset’s innovative offerings at Browsations_, she has gained recognition as a standout entrepreneur. Her accomplishments include features in two magazines, serving as a Fox 45 Baltimore news guest, winning various business awards, and being a brand ambassador.
McKisset also previously worked as an eyebrow threading educator at the esthetics school Cortiva Institute, where her image was used in marketing materials. She is admired by peers as a humble advocate expanding opportunities for other women of color in Maryland’s beauty industry.
“I sleep on my accomplishments sometimes. I’m always trying to out do myself…My competition has always been ME,” shared McKisset about her drive. “I’m a very humble person & I just let my reputation speak for me.”
Passionate Esthetician Aspires To Continue Trailblazing
Though she has already achieved some firsts as a Black female esthetician and cosmetology expert, McKisset remains focused on personal growth and uplifting others. She continues furthering her knowledge and working to increase diversity among Maryland salon professionals.
McKisset also takes pride in having trained numerous threading artists that help make the service more widely available. By boldly claiming her expertise, she emboldened other women to pursue their passions without waiting for external validation.
Danecha’ McKisset’s dedication to mastering eyebrow threading has garnered accolades, but she stays centered on bettering herself and her community.
Her trailblazing mindset combined with commitment to excellence will surely lead to still more barrier-breaking beauty innovations. McKisset takes threading to new heights while staying grounded in service and empowerment.
