Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù Portrays Titus Crown, the First Black Sheriff of Charon County, in Joe Robert Cole’s Gripping New Netflix Thriller All the Sinners Bleed

Southern Noir Series Explores Power, Faith, and Justice

Production has officially started in Atlanta for All the Sinners Bleed, Netflix’s highly anticipated Southern noir drama directed, written, and produced by Joe Robert Cole. The series stars Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù as Titus Crown, the first Black sheriff in Charon County—a fictional town deep in the Bible Belt.

Dìrísù’s character steps into a haunting world filled with secrets, faith, and murder. The story follows him as he hunts down a serial killer preying on his own community while battling personal grief and moral conflict.

Cole, known for his work on Black Panther and American Crime Story, said he knew Dìrísù was the right choice. “I was looking for someone who could capture the duality of Titus Crown’s nobility and charm while also embodying the seductiveness and danger tied to the story’s Southern Gothic roots,” Cole explained. “I think people are really going to fall in love with him as Titus.”

From Page to Screen: Bringing S.A. Cosby’s Novel to Life

All the Sinners Bleed is the first television adaptation of one of S.A. Cosby’s bestselling novels. The book blends the intensity of a crime thriller with the complexity of race, justice, and morality in the modern South.

Cosby, who also serves as an executive producer, praised Cole’s approach to the story. “Joe just gets it,” he said. “He understands the small nuances and sweeping ideals I tried to articulate in my book. I can’t think of a better person to tell the story of Titus Crown.”

The series also features John Douglas Thompson, Nicole Beharie, Daniel Ezra, Andrea Cortés, and Murray Bartlett, rounding out a powerhouse ensemble that captures the spirit of the book’s deeply human narrative.

A Powerful Collaboration With Higher Ground and Amblin Television

All the Sinners Bleed brings together some of the most influential names in entertainment. It’s co-produced by Higher Ground Productions, founded by Barack and Michelle Obama, and Amblin Television, led by Steven Spielberg.

S.A. Cosby expressed his gratitude for their support: “I’m incredibly honored that Netflix, Higher Ground, and Amblin believe in my work and have given me the greatest opportunity a writer can have—to see your world made real.”

Higher Ground’s Jessie Dicovitsky added, “The journey of Titus Crown explores urgent themes about community, justice, and faith that feel essential right now. Joe Robert Cole’s scripts honor the depth and authenticity of S.A. Cosby’s story in extraordinary ways.”

Amblin Television’s presidents Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey echoed the sentiment: “This story is so gripping and culturally relevant that it demands to be brought to the screen. We couldn’t have better partners to bring this vision to life.”

A Fresh Take on Crime, Faith, and Humanity

Joe Robert Cole describes All the Sinners Bleed as both thrilling and thought-provoking. “I’ve always been fascinated with the lighter and darker halves of who we are as people,” he said. “This story gave me a chance to explore those ideas with real emotional and human stakes.”

Dìrísù’s portrayal of Sheriff Titus Crown marks a significant cultural moment in storytelling. His character’s internal struggles mirror larger societal tensions about identity, leadership, and redemption in America’s Deep South.

As production continues, anticipation is growing for what promises to be one of Netflix’s most powerful dramas yet. All the Sinners Bleed will premiere in 2026, inviting audiences to confront the painful truths and enduring hope at the heart of its story.
